- Morrison, TN resident and Coffee County, TN native Marvin H. "Moe"
Anderson, age 67, was born July 21, 1943 and died July 24, 2010 at his
residence following a five-month illness. A supervisor with
Pajama Corporation of America, he was the son of the late Porter
Anderson, Sr. and Lydia Stacey Pelham In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Dorsey Pelham;
five brothers, Owen, Porter Jr., Earl, Cody and Wayne Anderson and
sister, Juanita Barnes. He was married August 30, 1965 to Sue
Wood Anderson of Morrison, TN. In addition to his wife, he is
survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Lynn and Donna
Anderson of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Jonathan Anderson
and Jarah Anderson both of McMinnville; four sisters and
brothers-in-law, Ann and Bud Bell of Manchester, TN, Shirley and Archie Driver
of McMinnville, Sue and Benny Faircloth of Springfield, TN and Jean McInturf of Summitville, TN; brother, Leighton Anderson of
Tullahoma, TN; twin brother and sister-in-law, Marlin and Brenda
Anderson of Summitville, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010 in
High's Chapel with Bro. Gene Green officiating. Burial followed
in the Gardens of Memory.

ATNIP, Billie Austin
- McMinnville resident and Warren County native Billie Austin Atnip,
age 83, was born July 17, 1927 and died August 26, 2010 at NHC
Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A retired
mechanic with Pacific Inner Mountain Express and United States Army
veteran of WWII and Korea, he was the son of the late Herman T. and
Nanny Crim Atnip. He was a member of the VFW Post 5064, American
Legion Post 173 and Live Oak Masonic Lodge in Oakland, CA. He
was married to Elizabeth Daphine Bell Atnip who preceded him in death
November 26, 2005. He is survived by one daughter, Chris Atnip
of McMinnville; son, Jim Atnip of McMinnville; two
sisters, Hattie Bard of Pennsylvania and Virginia Martin of
California; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Copeland and Sheila Bell
both of McMinnville; several nieces, nephews and cousins and
special friend, Carolyn Barnhill of McMinnville. A graveside
service and interment was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 30,
2010 at Gardens of Memory with Tommy Lusk officiating. Full
military honors were administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American
Legion Post 173 as well as Masonic Graveside Rites by Warren Masonic
Lodge #125 F&AM. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society c/o
High's.

- McMinnville resident and Warren County native Paul Oldham Barnes,
age 77, was born April 18, 1933 and died August 19, 2010 at his
residence following an extended illness. The owner of B&P Lamp
Supply and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late
Lawson and Pauline VanHooser Barnes. In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Barnes. He is
survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Debbie Barnes and
Paul Michael and Lesa Barnes both of McMinnville; four
grandchildren, Laura Beth Gheesling of Ocoee, TN, Michael Barnes of
McMinnville, Grace Martin of Knoxville, TN and Nada Jacobs of
Manhatten, KS; great-grandchildren, Nathan Barnes and Eli Barnes
and the mother of his children, Ann Barnes. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 in High's Chapel with
Andy Gay officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.

- McMinnville resident and Warren County native Clarence Edward
"Eddie" Bates, age 77, was born June 29, 1933 and died July 26, 2010
at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A logger
and nurseryman, he was the son of the late Clarence Edward and Edna
Pearl Scott Bates. He was married August 17, 1951 to Della Agnes
Hale Bates who preceded him in death. He is survived by two
daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Tony Moore and Juan and Randall
Milstead both of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Ryan Moore,
Benji Taylor, Lynde Bond and Denae Green; eight
great-grandchildren, Allison Bond, Fletcher Moore, Dylan Bond, Natalie
Green, Tru Moore, Ella Bond, Dillard Taylor and Presley Green;
three sisters, Barbara Gillentine and Christine Wimley both of
McMinnville and Lillian Fults of Altamont, TN; brother, Clifford
Bates of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews and special
friend, Diane Campbell of McMinnville. A graveside service and
interment was held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Smyrna
Cemetery with Jackie Matheny officiating.

was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Ruth Elliott Caldwell

Hospital following a sudden illness. A retired employee of
Century Electric and member of Friendship The Baptist Church, he was
the son of the late Alton and Minnie May Jones Couch. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers,
Earl and J.C. Couch. He is survived by one brother, Larry Couch;
special friend, Tina King and aunt, Ruby Pennington all of
McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday,
August 1, 2010 in High's Chapel with Johnny Haston officiating.

- Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Margie Edna
DeLong, age 84, was born October 27, 1925 and died July 24, 2010 at
NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A
homemaker and member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of
the late Fred Clay and Gertie Bishop Moore. She was married to
Richard Leon DeLong who preceded her in death in 1993. In
addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by
three children, Sue Lawson, Bobby DeLong and Betty Simmons. She
is survived by two sons, Charles DeLong of Rock Island, TN and Lee
DeLong of Irving, TX; nine grandchildren, twelve
great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; three
sisters, Dorothy Palmer of Rock Island, TN, Gracie Lawson of the
Centertown Community and Barbara Childress of Arlington, TX;
brother, Sammy Moore of Maryville, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in
High's Chapel with Willard Ralph, Jr. officiating. Burial
followed in the Long Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.

resident and Van Buren County, TN native Silas Abraham "S.A." Drake,
IV was born April 24, 1919 and died July 30, 2010 at River Park
Hospital following a short illness. A food distributor with the
Warren County School System and United States Army veteran of WWII and
Korea, he was the son of the late Silas Abraham and Wavie Hash Drake,
III. Mr. Drake was a member of VFW Post 5064 where he served on
the funeral honor guard for many years. He was married to Ouida
Margaret Henley Drake who preceded him in death in 1997. In
addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his
daughter, Cora Sue Temple and son, Gary Dean Drake. He is
survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Silas and Marge Drake of
McMinnville; five grandchildren, Chris Temple and wife Tammy,
Sherry Jones and Linda Bishop all of McMinnville, Johnny Drake of
Virginia and Julie Cockrell of Smyrna, TN; eight
great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Roberts of Van Buren County,
TN; sister, Loretta Wilson of Baxter, TN and several nieces and
nephews. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday,
August 3, 2010 in High's Chapel with Richard Haley officiating.
Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery with full military honors
administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Robbie Lee Fox, age 71,
was born March 28, 1939 and died August 17, 2010 at NHC Healthcare
McMinnville following a lingering illness. A retired employee of
Oster Corporation and member of the Trousdale Church of Christ, she
was the daughter of the late Edgar A. and Jessie L. Pepper Brown.
She was married to Raymond Lee Fox who preceded her in death in 1994.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by
two sisters, Frances Brown and Betty Broom. She is survived by
one daughter, Jackie Fitts of McMinnville; two sons and
daughter-in-law, Allen Fox and Billy Ray and Lesia Fox both of
McMinnville; two grandsons, two granddaughters and five
great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Grady
Dale Brown of Fayetteville, TN and two sisters and brother-in-law,
Lois and Paul Dixson of McMinnville and Doris Balew of Dallas, TX.
Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at
Trousdale Church of Christ with Mike Ray officiating. Burial
followed in the Trousdale Cemetery.

Grissom was the retired director of the Brentwood Water and Sewer
Department and the son of the late George Burton and Clara Mae

Grissom, Jr. He was married to Sandy Cagle Grissom of Belmont,

all of McMinnville and Melissa and Craig Thiele of Gainesboro, TN;
eighteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Irene Ingle of Meridian, MS and Betty Merritt of Lavergne, TN
and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at
4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 in High's Chapel with Rick Clouse
officiating. Burial followed in the Shellsford Cemetery.

PERRY, Mary Alma
- Frankfort, IL resident and Warren County native Mary Alma Perry, age
65, was born June 24, 1945 and died August 4, 2010 at Riverside
Hospital in Kankakee, IL. Mrs. Perry was a bookbinder, a member
of the Baptist Church and the daughter of Mary Lucille Womack Perry of
Cave City, AR and the late William Walker Perry. In addition to
her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Randal Perry and
two sisters, Ethylene Lemons and Annetta Inman. In addition to
her mother, she is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Retha
and Royce Ford of Batesville, AR and several nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. Funeral
service was held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 in
High's Chapel with Royce Ford officiating. Burial followed in
the Shellsford Cemetery.

SAIN, Jerry Frank
- Manchester, TN resident and Coffee County, TN native Jerry Frank
Sain, age 66, was born August 23, 1943 and died July 26, 2010 at
Medical Center of Manchester in Manchester, TN following a sudden
illness. A retired route salesman with Mayfield Dairies and
member of the Pleasant Knoll Church of Christ, he was the son of the
late Frank Winton and Ruby Ramsey Sain. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Geneva Woodhurst.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Judy Sain
of Sparta, TN and Troy and Kim Sain of Manchester, TN; four
grandchildren, Michael and Casey Sain of Sparta, TN and Shannon and
Thomas Sain of Manchester, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Betty
Ann and Benton Womack of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 in
High's Chapel. Burial followed in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in
Coffee County, TN.

SIMPSON, Doris Launa
- Nashville, TN resident and Warren County native Doris Launa Simpson,
age 77, was born March 26, 1933 and died August 9, 2010 at Vanderbilt
University Medical Center in Nashville, TN following an extended
illness. A homemaker and member of the Glenwood Baptist Church,
she was the daughter of the late Fulton and Emma Louella Bolt McBride.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three
brothers, Ed, Dewey and Johnny McBride and sister, Gladys Keel.
She is survived by one son, Johnny Simpson of Nashville, TN; two
sisters, Nan Ruth Cantrell of McMinnville and Lola Jane Stanton of
Murfreesboro, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service
was held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 in High's Chapel
with Tony Lawrence officiating. Burial followed in the Liberty
Cemetery.

SLATTON, JR., J.C.
- McMinnville resident and Warren County native J.C. Slatton, Jr., age
85, was born June 1, 1925 and died August 27, 2010 at River Park
Hospital following an extended illness. The retired owner of
Woodbury Stone and member of the Central Church of Christ, he was the
son of the late Julius C. and Rowena Cope Slatton. In addition
to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Ruby
Smith Bragg Slatton; sister, Clydie Slatton; step-sister,
Rhea Boyd and step-brother, Tom Bragg. He served his community
as an elected commissioner of the Warren County Court from 1978-1986,
was past president of the Tennessee Crushed Stone Association, served
on executive committees of the Black Fox Boy Scout District, was
director of Citizen State Bank, past member of Exchange Club and
Rotary Club, director of Warren County Utility District, member of
Southern Senior Golf Association and Volunteer State Senior Golf
Association and served as director of McMinnville Country Club.
He was married January 16, 1954 to Flo Dunbar Slatton of McMinnville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and
daughter-in-law, J.C. "Jay" and Elbia Slatton, III of McMinnville;
daughter, Kathy Bonnin of Milwaukee, WI; four grandchildren,
Olivia Slatton, Yvonne Bonnin Krueger, Laurene Page Slatton and
Valeria Slatton; two great-grandchildren, Emma Mae and Grant
Krueger; sister, Virginia Hammer of McMinnville;
sister-in-law, Janie Bragg of McMinnville and nieces and nephews,
Brenda Martin, Debbie Jacobs, Jay Bragg, Bee Patterson and McQuiddy
Bragg. A graveside service and interment was held at 2:00
p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Mt. View Cemetery with James Vandiver
officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Church of Christ
Retirement Center or the charity of your choice.

SNIDER, Emma Jewell
- Rock Island, TN resident and Putnam County, TN native Emma Jewell
Snider, age 87, was born September 15, 1922 and died August 25, 2010
at her residence following a lingering illness. A beautician at
Elizabeth's Beauty Shop and member of the Baptist Church, she was the
daughter of the late "Ed" Ford Luther and Polly Ann Neal Edmond.
She was married to Charles Thomas Snider who preceded her in death
during WWII in 1944. In addition to her husband and parents, she
was preceded in death by one son, D.L. Snider and twelve siblings.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Miles and Elnora
Snider of Rock Island, TN; three grandchildren, Dianne Rizzotto,
Renea Carty and Thomas Burton Snider all of Florida; three
great-grandsons, Jason Carty of Nashville, TN, Thomas Allen Snider of
Rock Island, TN and Nicholas Rizzotto of Florida; four
great-great-grandchildren, Christian Rizzotto and Amara Rizzotto
both of Florida and Jonathan Snider and Micah Snider both of Rock
Island, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 in High's Chapel with
Roland Sharp officiating. Burial followed in the Friendship
Cemetery.

- McMinnville resident and Warren County native William Colby Turner,
age 19, was born December 21, 1990 and died July 23, 2010. An
employee of THC Molding in Waverly, TN, he was the son of Royce and
Patricia Turner and Ronda Turner and Charles Wilcher both of
McMinnville. He was preceded in death by his paternal
grandfather, F.W. "Bill" Turner and maternal grandfather, A.C.
Simmons. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one
brother and sister-in-law, Cory and Andrea Turner of McMinnville;
two sisters and brother-in-law, Ashley and Ryan Hobbs and Autumn
Turner both of McMinnville; paternal grandmother, Betty Turner
of McMinnville; maternal grandmother, Remonia Porter of
McMinnville; aunt and uncle, Shirlene and Kermit Stiles of
McMinnville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside
memorial services were held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2010 at
Smyrna Cemetery with Mike Steakley officiating.

- McMinnville resident and Overton County, TN native, Walter Eugene
"Gene" Wilson, age 71 ,was born March 25, 1939 and died August 10,
2010 at River Park Hospital. A former horse, mule and cattle
trader and owner of Wilson Motors, he was the son of the late Richard
Houston and Maudie Bell Bilbrey Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a member
of the Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by four brothers, William O. Wilson, Martin "Pete"
Wilson, Hack Wilson and Howard Wilson and two sisters, Velma Wilson
and Austie Wilson. He is survived by one son, Jason Wilson of
McMinnville; three sisters, Thula Kilgore, Betty Boyd and Delcie
West all of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews;
step-son, Greg Bray of McMinnville; former wife, Doris Wilson of
Sparta, TN and special friends, David Pendergraph, Buddy Pendergraph
and Teddy and Vicky Alley all of McMinnville. Funeral service
was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010 in High's Chapel
with Ray Skyles officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View
Cemetery.

Margueritte Winnett, age 77, was born August 28, 1932 and died August

illness. A retired employee of Kmart and member of the Baptist
Church, she was the daughter of the late David and Mary Hooks Gillem.
She was married July 14, 1956 to Oscar Alex Winnett, Jr. who preceded
her in death. She is survived by one son, John Winnett;
daughter, Lisa Darlene Morris and grandson Christopher Kevin Morris
all of Nashville, TN and several nieces and nephews. A
graveside service and interment was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday,
August 18, 2010 at Center Hill Cemetery in Cannon County, TN with

and Minnie Gross Winton. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Bundy and Irene Scruggs and
brother, Franklin Winton. He was married December 7, 1957 to
Peggy Rains Winton of the Hubbard's Cove Community. In addition
to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda
and Eddie Caldwell of Jasper, TN and Midge and Mike Henegar of the
Pocahontas Community; two step-daughters and step-son-in-law,
Jammie Bass of the Hubbard's Cove Community and Debbie and Kevin
Furgerson of League City, TX; grandchildren, Steven Dyer and
wife Adriene of Whitwell, TN and Michael Dyer of Sequatchie,
TN, Michael Henegar and Matthew Henegar both of the Pocahontas
Community; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and
nephews. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday,
August, 9, 2010 in High's Chapel with Kenneth Rains and Clayton Jones

Raymond Eugene Young who preceded her in death February 16, 1990.

William "Bill" and Jo Ann Young; two granddaughters and their
spouses, Kimberley and Tommy Clarke and Karen and Tim Rados;

Lindburg Young, age 77, was born October 13, 1932 and died August 18,
2010 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following a brief
illness. A former employee of the Warren County Highway
Department and nursery worker, he was the son of the late Christopher
Columbus and Cleo Luna Young. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by two grandchildren, Charity Stembridge and Nicki
Young and two brothers, Leonard and John D. Young. He was
married July 8, 1963 to Hester Myers Young of McMinnville. In
addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Linda (Edward)
Richardson of Rock Island, TN, Tommy (Melinda) Adams, Jean Young,
Melinda Stembridge, Sherry Wellman (Paul White), Gloria Skinner and
Jennifer Hayes all of McMinnville; two step-sons, Darrell Myers
of Hillsboro, TN and Bennie (Ella) Adams of McMinnville;
twenty-three grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren;
brother, Earl (Joann) Young of McMinnville; three sisters,
Christine Clemons and Minnie Medley both of McMinnville and Fay Cantrell of Smithville, TN
numerous nieces and nephews and best friends, Bobby Sweeton and
Richard Stembridge both of McMinnville and Frank McCormick of Rock
Island, TN. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday,
August 21, 2010 in High's Chapel with Kenneth W. Kirby officiating.
Burial followed in the Young Cemetery in DeKalb County, TN.
