BAKER, SR., Jerry Lee
- Morrison, TN resident and Peoria, IL native Jerry Lee Baker, Sr.,
age 60, was born December 27, 1951 and died April 30, 2012 at River
Park Hospital following a sudden illness. A retired employee of
DeZurik Corporation and member of Dayspring Community Church, he was
the son of the late Oscar Dillard and Lotel Marie Grissom Baker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother,
Oscar Baker. He was married February 27, 1993 to Betty Evans
Baker of Morrison, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived
by six children and their spouses, Jay and Sabrina Baker of Sparta,
TN, Anna and Matt Sands of Hermitage, TN, Amy Baker of Indianapolis,
IN, Josh and Monica Baker of Morrison, TN, Ron and Teresa Evans of
Clearwater, FL and Tammy and Rodger Byars of McMinnville; twelve
grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Joann Baker
of Spencer, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service
was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in High's Chapel with
Rex Boles officiating. Burial followed in the Long Cemetery in
Van Buren County, TN.

BROWN, Gaynell Grayson
- McMinnville resident and Warren County native Gaynell Grayson Brown,
age 73, was born August 26, 1938 and died March 30, 2012 at her
residence following an extended illness. A retired housekeeper
with Raintree Manor Nursing Home and member of the East End Dr. Church
of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Ethel Buchannon
Grayson. She was married to Gordon Brown who preceded her in
death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded
in death by sisters, Ruth Cope, Arizona "Jackie" Roberts, Beatrice
Savage, Ollie Mae Locke, Margaret Lyons and Beulah Bell Shanklin and
brother, David Grayson. She is survived by one daughter,
Jennifer Crisp of McMinnville; two grandsons, Donald Lemar
(Emily) Crisp of Murfreesboro, TN and Heath Crisp of McMinnville;
granddaughter, Tasha (Nathan) Reagan of McMinnville; two
great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons; sister, Carrie
Winton of Los Angeles, California; dedicated sister, Magnolia
(Harold) Solomon of McMinnville; sister, Ozzie Grayson of
McMinnville; several nieces and nephews including special
nieces, Gail Locke and Hardenia Locke; brother-in-law, Floyd
Shanklin of Indianapolis, IN; special friends, Martha Womack and
Johnnie Sue Carr and many other close friends. Funeral service
was held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in High's Chapel with
Bro. Phillip Smith, Jr. and Bro. George King, Jr. officiating.
Burial followed in the Leesburg Cemetery.

Joe Bratten - McMinnville resident and
Warren County native Joe Bratten Brown, age 81, was born September 17,
1930 and died April 3, 2012 at Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center in
Murfreesboro, TN following an extended illness. A retired truck
driver with Central Oil Company and United States Army veteran, he was
the son of the late George L. and Mary Emma Bratten Brown. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers,
Donald and George Lee Brown, Jr. and two sisters, Sharon Hayes and
Ruth Prater. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law,
Larry Wayne and Mary Brown of McMinnville; nieces, Lisa (Jim)
Weismore of McMinnville and Allison (Arthur) Walker of Athens, TN;
nephews, David (Lori) Brown of McMinnville and Jeffery (Stephanie)
Hayes of Manchester, TN; five great-nieces, Candice, Brittany,
Ashlyn, Gabrielle and Alyiah; seven great-nephews, Cole, Dillon,
Travis, Austin, Treyton, Arthur, Jr. and Sinnigan and special friend,
Wanda Brown. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April
6, 2012 in High's Chapel with Herbert E. Alsup officiating.
Burial followed in the Brick House Cemetery with full military honors
administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.

BYARS,
Alvie J. - McMinnville resident and
Warren County native Alvie J. Byars, age 91, was born September 16,
1920 and died May 4, 2012 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home. A
broadcast engineer and lifelong member of the Church of Christ where
he served as minister of the Salem Church of Christ for several years,
he was the son of the late Samuel Hand and Nancy Rankhorn Byars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife,
Delma Smith Byars and a son, Larry Price Byars. Mr. Byars was a
combat veteran having served with the United States Navy Submarine
Service in the South Pacific Theater. He was a Ham Radio
enthusiast and a locally well-known broadcast engineer. He is
survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Clara Byars
of McMinnville, Dwain and Barbara Byars of Franklin, TN and Bob and
Debbie Byars of North Little Rock, AR and nine grandchildren. At
Mr. Byars' request, all services will be private. Full military
honors were administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion
Post 173. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made
to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Meals on Wheels both c/o
High's.

- McMinnville resident and Evansville, IN native Jeffery Billy Cathey,
age 49, was born March 8, 1963 and died April 4, 2012 at his residence
following a one-year illness. An employee of Wright Brothers
Construction Company and member of the Morrison First Baptist Church,
he was the son of Margaret Miller Cathey of Morrison, TN and the late
Billy Reece Cathey. He was married to Blenda Dillingham Cathey
of McMinnville. In addition to his wife and mother, he is
survived by one step-son, Matthew Bennett of Unicoi, TN;
brother, Gregory (Toni) Cathy of Morrison, TN; sister, Mary Lou
(Jan) Davidson of Morrison, TN; nieces and nephews, Justin
Cathey of McMinnville and Judith Cathey, Alexander Davidson and Eric
Davidson all of Morrison ,TN; great-niece, Abigail Cathey of
Morrison, TN and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral
service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 in High's Chapel
with Jackie Matheny officiating. Burial followed in the Shady

CAVINESS, Linda Pedigo
- Warrenton, Va. resident and DeKalb County native Linda Pedigo
Caviness, 66, died May 4 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in DeKalb County on Nov. 20, 1945 and moved with her
family to the Shellsford area of Warren County in 1947. She was
the daughter of the late Wesley and Mary Elizabeth Moore Pedigo.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her
father-in-law, Cletus Caviness of Germantown, Tenn. She
graduated from Central High School in McMinnville, Tenn. in 1963, the
salutatorian of her senior class. She received her bachelors
degree from Memphis State University and spent more than 25 years as
an educator, first as an instructor at Tennessee Technological
University in Cookeville, Tenn., then as a teacher at Warren County
High School and in the South Orange Maplewood School District in
Maplewood, N.J., primarily teaching foreign languages. She was
married to her husband of 35 years, Albert Wayne Caviness, on April,
9, 1977. In addition to her her husband she is survived by two
daughters, Jennifer Leigh Jacobs and husband Tom of Pittsburgh Penn.,
and Juliet Elizabeth Caviness, of Warrenton, and fiancé Jesse Fruchter;
son, Luther Wayne Caviness of Warrenton; sisters, Evelena Pedigo
Ashburn and husband Mark of Smithville and Virginia Pedigo Newby and
husband Gary of Sparta; brothers, Dr. Thurman Lee Pedigo, Sr.
and wife Jeanne of Murfreesboro, Ralph Walter Pedigo and wife RayNell
and Charles Wesley Pedigo Johnson, both of McMinnville; and
mother-in-law, Melva Caviness of Germantown. A host of nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews,
extended family and friends also survive. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 11 at New Union United Methodist Church
on Highway 30 with Bro. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests
donations be made to a scholarship fund in honor of Mrs. Caviness.
High Funeral Home will accept the donations until the fund is formally
set up.

1923 and died April 2, 2012 at TN State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro,

Southern Standard, United States Army veteran of WWII, past Commander
of VFW Post 5064, publisher of the VFW State Newsletter and member of
the Central Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Shelah and
Lemona Mitchell Davis. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by step-mother, Agnes Orrick Davis and three
step-brothers, Leon, Joe and Willard Orrick. He was married
November 24, 1949 to Hannah Greene Davis of McMinnville. In
addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Maleesa Jan Davis of
McMinnville; step-brother, Everage Orrick and wife Betty of
Indianapolis, IN; sisters-in-law, Cornelia Orrick, Louise Green,
Joyce Pirtle, Melba Griffith and husband Jimmy, Linda Davenport and
husband Jerry, and Kaye Worzek all of McMinnville;
brothers-in-law, Johnny Greene, G. B. Greene and wife Suzi, and Fred
Greene and wife Faye all of McMinnville and several nieces and
nephews. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April

and died April 30, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness.
A retired employee of Cookeville Tool and Die, veteran of the
Tennessee National Guard and member of Pioneer
Community Church, he was the son of the late Charles Marshall and
Irene Muncey Fults. In addition to his parents, he was preceded
in death by one son, Paul Morgan Fults; brother, Charles Fults
and sister, Betty Hudson Jones. He was married July 3, 1962 to
Louise Floyd Fults of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he
is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Michael Smith

85, was born August 6, 1926 and died April 18, 2012 at her residence
following an extended illness. A hairdresser and member of the
Fall City Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey and
Elizabeth McCormick Jones. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Faye Bryant and
great-grandson, Mickey Bryant. She was married September 20,
1970 to Arthur L. Gunning of McMinnville. In addition to her
husband, she is survived by two step-sons, Steven Richard Gunning of
Clarksville, TN and Michael Gunning and wife Lisa of Rock Island, TN;
grandson, Bobby Arnold and wife Pam of Murfreesboro, TN; two
sisters, Dean Christian of Nashville, TN and Juanita Adams and husband
Wilbur of Gallatin, TN; great-niece, Debbie Slocumbe and husband
Chuck and great-grand-niece, Elizabeth Lewis. A graveside

HELTON, Jerry Wayne
- Jerry Wayne Helton, 65 of McMinnville, TN April 14, 2012. Son
of the late Everett Cleveland "Jack" and Sue Underwood Helton, Jr.
He was the owner of Southern Insurance Group, member of Christ's
Family Church. He was a member of the 1965 TSSAA Basketball
State Champions of Murfreesboro Central High School, Past President of
McMinnville-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, Charter President of
McMinnville Breakfast Rotary, President of Southern Insurance Group
and was a teacher, deacon and shepherd at Christ's Family Church.
He was a lay leader for walk to Emmaus. After being diagnosed
with cancer in the 80's, he had a personal ministry of ministering to
numerous other people coping with cancer. He was married to
Freeda Ballew Helton January 14, 1995 who survives. Also
surviving are children and spouses, Jeremy & Melissa Helton; Ripley,
TN, Hilary Helton; Knoxville, TN, Cindy & Jeff Clabough;
Cleveland, TN, Carla & Craig Foster; McMinnville, TN and Caryn &
Larry Gibson; Olive Grove, CA, eight grandchildren, Lawson and
Lake Helton, Christopher and Conner Clabough, Daulton and Danielle
Foster and Hayley and Hope Gibson, brother Eddie and wife, Andy
Helton; Murfreesboro, TN, mother-in-law, Margaret Ballew;
McMinnville, TN and two nieces, Kelly Moss; Knoxville, TN and
Abby Green; Murfreesboro, TN. Funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Monday in High's Chapel. Interment will
follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Gary Molloy and Don Vinson

KROFSSIK,
Robert "Bob" - McMinnville
resident and Connecticut native Robert "Bob" Krofssik died Tuesday,
May 1, 2012 after losing his fight with cancer. He was born
March 11, 1946 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. A retired law
enforcement officer, he honorably served his country with the U.S.
Navy during the Vietnam War. He was assigned to the Inshore
Undersea Warfare Group One in Cam Ranh Bay which earned among other
awards, the U.S. Navy Unite Commendation and the Meritorious Unit
Commendation. He also served on the Air Craft Carrier U.S.S.
Franklin D. Roosevelt in the South China Sea and the U.S.S. Fulton a
submarine tender based out of New London, Connecticut. He began
a career in law enforcement in 1971 with the Orlando, Florida Police
Department and in 1980 moved to McMinnville where he was hired as an
officer with the McMinnville Police Department. He was promoted
to Detective Sergeant and also served as the McMinnville and Warren
County Drug Team Supervisor. In 1997 he was hired on as s
Special Agent by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation where he served
until his retirement in 2007. Mr. Krofssik was preceded in death
by his parents, Morris and Evelyn Beauregard Krofssik. He is
survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Gwendolyn "Gwen" Brown
Krofssik; son, Scott Krofssik (Tina) of McMinnville;
daughters, Denise Krofssik Smiley (Chris) of Cookeville, TN, Leanne
Krofssik and Kellie Krofssik Neely (Richard) both of Old Hickory, TN;
and Kristy Krofssik Hargis (Ryan) of Gruetli-Laager, TN; sixteen
grandchildren; sister, Deloris Krofssik Curtis of McMinnville
and two brothers, Leonard Krofssik of Land'O Lakes, FL and Gary
Krofssik of Roxbury, CT. Funeral service was held at 2:00
p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 in High's Chapel with Tony Smedley and Bill
Gibson officiating. Burial followed in the Hills Creek Cemetery
with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and

81, was born June 15, 1930 and died April 6, 2012 at Middle Tennessee
Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN. A homemaker and member of
the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and
Bernice Watson Warren. She was married to Joel Luvoy Martin who
preceded her in death March 16, 2000. In addition to her husband
and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Price and Gene
Warren. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard
"Dickie" and Linda Martin of Murfreesboro, TN; grandson, Clint
Martin of Murfreesboro, TN; brother, Lowell Warren of
Lawrenceburg, TN and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside
service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10,
2012 at Riverside Cemetery with Mike Gann officiating.

five sisters, Carrie Blanks, Edna Woodlee, Frances Bell, Charlene
Smith and Lucille Blankenship and brother, George Mayes. He was
married December 20, 1947 to Bobbie Johnson Mayes of McMinnville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Vickie Mayes
and friend Barry Haston of McMinnville; sister, Betty Walker of
McMinnville; brother, Howard Mayes of McMinnville and caretaker,
Judy Green of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 1:00
p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 in High's Chapel with Terry Townsend,
Robert Horton and Robert Nopgrass officiating. Burial followed in the Smyrna Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association c/o High's.

- Morrison, TN resident and Blue Earth, MN native Linda Marlene
Parsons McAfee, age 65, was born January 2, 1947 and died May 7, 2012
at River Park Hospital following a one-year illness. The
co-owner of McAfee Photography and member of the Lutheran Church, she
was the daughter of the late Glenroy Ewing and Verna Pauline Kretchmer
Parsons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by three siblings. She was married to Rod McAfee of Morrison,
TN. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters
and son-in-law, Rena Kathleen and Bobby K. Tate of McMinnville and
Cheryl Lynn Gunter of Morrison, TN; four grandchildren,
Christopher Nicholas Myers, Gage Alexander Myers, Bobby K. Tate, III
and Rachael Colleen Gunter; five step-sons, Chris McAfee and
Jeff McAfee both of Kentucky, Clint McAfee and Keith McAfee both of
Nashville, TN and Thomas McAfee of Boston, MA; four
step-grandchildren; sister, Lois Montgomery of Aurora, IL;
two brothers, Marvin Parsons and Loren Parsons both of McMinnville and
several nieces nephews. A memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m.
Thursday, May 10, 2012 in High's Parlor.

- McMinnville resident and Van Buren County, TN native Bruce Edward
McGuire, age 51, was born July 4, 1960 and died April 24, 2012 at his
residence following an extended illness. A truck driver with DLS
and member of the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith, he was the
son of Bobbie Sue Moore of Van Buren County and the late Coy McGuire.
He was married July 15, 1978 to Lisa Ann Rollings McGuire of
McMinnville. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived
by one son, Jarrett Lee McGuire of McMinnville; daughter,
Crystal (Jason) Hill of Cookeville, TN; grandchild, Americus Ann
McGuire; two sisters, Sharon (Wendell) Webb of McMinnville and
Katherine Moore of Crossville, TN; two brothers, Greg (Pat)
McGuire of McMinnville and Donald (Elaina) McGuire of Cookeville, TN;
mother-in-law, Geneva Lynn Rollings of McMinnville and a host of
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. There are no
services planned at this time.

William Barry - McMinnville resident and
Detroit, MI native William Barry McKinley, age 72, was born October 7,
1939 and died April 10, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN
following an extended illness. A retired mechanic with U.S. Auto
Sales, United States Air Force veteran and member of the Church of
Christ, he was the son of the late John and Eula M. Phillips McKinley.
He was married to Donna Wheeler McKinley of McMinnville. In
addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and
daughters-in-law, Raymond and April McKinley, Bill and Jennifer
McKinley and David and Tabitha McKinley all of McMinnville; nine
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; five brothers,
Richard, Tommy, Phillip, Joel and Earl; two sisters, Joann and
Mary and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was
held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 in High's Chapel. Full
military honors were administered by the American Legion Post 173
and VFW Post 5064 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital c/o High's.

- McMinnville resident and Wilson County, TN native Bobby Edgar
Merriman, age 55, was born May 17, 1956 and died April 24, 2012 at his
residence following a sudden illness. An employee of Hillis
Trucking, he was the son of Maideen Merriman of Sparta, TN and the
late Oliver Edgar Merriman. In addition to his father, he was
preceded in death by one brother, Allen Merriman. He was married
February 16, 1979 to Lorie Shook Merriman of McMinnville. In
addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters and
son-in-law, Angie and Josh Campbell of Decherd, TN and Cassie Merriman
of McMinnville; four sons, Jamie Merriman and wife Wendy and
Donnie Merriman both of McMinnville; Johnny Merriman and Scottie
Merriman and fiancée Natasha of Hillsboro, TN; ten
grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Jan and Al
Young and Anita and Randy Dunn both of Sparta, TN and Margaret
Stembridge and Lisa Merriman both of McMinnville and three brothers
and sisters-in-law, Earl and Vickie Merriman of Spencer, TN, Ricky and
Tyann Merriman of Sparta, TN and Jeff Merriman of McMinnville.
Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 in
High's Chapel with Kevin Clark officiating. Burial followed in
the Gardens of Memory.

- Morrison, TN resident and Warren County native Lucille Miller
Parker, age 90, was born October 19, 1921 and died May 18, 2012 at
River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired
cook of eighteen years at Viola School and member of the Pleasant
Knoll Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Worth and
Dora Scott Miller. She was married to her husband of fifty-two
years, James E. Parker who preceded her in death in 1993. In
addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six
brothers, Bill, Wesley, James, Price, Paul and Horace Miller and
sister, Bonnie Hillis. She is survived by one daughter, Betty
Sain of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Ronnie (Tammy) Parker
and Tonya (Kirk) Mullican both of Morrison, TN and Alicea (Thomas)
Weddington and Carey (Jeff) Chandler both of McMinnville; eight
great-grandchildren, Will (Andrea) Parker, Clay Parker, Tommy (Judy)
Weddington, Savannah Bell, Logan and Chelsey Chandler and Nola and
Emma Mullican; three great-great-grandchildren, Chance Parker,
Incee Weddington and Camden Siebers and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 in
High's Chapel. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial
contributions may be made to Meals On Wheels.

Floyd L. - Madison, TN resident and
Warren County native Floyd L. Parsley, age 85, was born December 17,
1926 and died May 3, 2012 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. A
retired employee of Pirelli-Armstrong Tire Company, United States Army
veteran of WWII and member of Neely's Bend Church of Christ, he was
the son of the late John H. and Emma Green Parsley. Mr. Parsley
was an avid hunter and fisherman and a master gardener. He was
married to his wife of sixty-seven years, Robie Redmon Parsley of
Madison, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two
sons, Ken (Reba) Parsley of Nashville, TN and Darryl Parsley of
Hartford, CT; granddaughters, Shelley (Greg) Burchyett and
Stacey (Jason) Loy and great-grandsons, Zachary and Stephen Burchyett
and Nathaniel and Benjamin Loy. A graveside service and
interment was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 at Webb
Cemetery @ Bluff Springs with Mike Tidwell and Norman Slate
officiating. Full military honors were administered by the VFW
Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.

of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ulysses Boren and
Sepal Flogene "Jean" Harrell Boren. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Charlene Boren;
brother-in-law, J.C. Phillips and sisters-in-law, Thelma King and
Rachel Ray. She was married June 5, 1975 to Homer Perry of
Crystal River, FL. In addition to her husband, she is survived
by two children, Michael Perry and wife Stephanie of Crystal River, FL
and Jennie Perry of Beverly Hills, FL; granddaughter, Elizabeth
Louise Perry; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Glenna Boren and
David Godwin and Carolyn Boren and Phillip Clemons both of
McMinnville; two nieces and one nephew, Sarah Jean Godwin, Hayle
Clemons and Davey Godwin; numerous other nieces, nephews, aunts,
uncles and cousins; five sisters-in-law, Jean King and husband
Elmer of Beersheba Springs, TN, Catherine Phillips and Glenda
Clendenon and husband Donnie both of McMinnville, Christine Perry of
Spencer, TN and Avis Scruggs and husband Jeff of Palmer, TN and four

- McMinnville resident and Cleveland, MS native Lenore Sims Pratt, age
72, was born October 27, 1939 and died April 24, 2012 at her residence
following a brief illness. A retired Accountant with Graining
Paint Company in Knoxville, TN and member of the First Baptist Church,
she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Susie Griffin Sims.
She was married to Travis William Griffin who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Pratt of McMinnville;
three daughters, Suzanne Lambert, Patti Wilhite and Clair Cochran;
son, Jason Pratt; five grandchildren, Jessica Chandler, Neal
Lambert, Ashley Wilhite, Blake Cochran and Cameron Cochran;
seven great-grandchildren, Cameron, Cierra, Danny, Chloe, David,
Aryana and Gabriel and brother, Jimmy Sims. Funeral service was held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at First Baptist Church
with John May and Jim Lawhorn officiating. Burial followed in the
Big Springs Presbyterian Cemetery in Blount County, TN at 2:00 p.m.
EST Friday, April 27, 2012. Memorial contributions may be made

SPIVEY,
SR., Herman Ray - McMinnville resident
and Davidson County, TN native Herman Ray Spivey, Sr., age 89, was
born May 2, 1923 and died May 16, 2012 at River Park Hospital
following an extended illness. Mr. Spivey's family moved to
McMinnville in 1925 where his father was employed for several years by
McMinnville Manufacturing Company. Mr. Spivey attended the local
public schools, and later attended the University of Tennessee at
Knoxville. He received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering
from the University of South Carolina while enrolled with a Navy unite
during WWII. After duty in the Pacific with the Navy, he was
employed for a short time by TVA in Chattanooga. In 1949 he
returned to McMinnville to join his father at Cumberland Lumber and
Manufacturing Company, where he subsequently served for many years as
president and chairman of the board. In this capacity he also
served as president of the National Oak Flooring Manufacturers
Association in 1975-1976. His other business interests included
radio broadcasting in which he and his father constructed Radio
Station WKKH in Rockwood, TN. After the sale of that station,
they purchased Radio Station WMSR AM & FM in Manchester, TN. He
served as president of that organization for some twenty years, prior
to the sale of the stations in the late eighties and early nineties.
He was for twenty years a director in City Bank and Trust Company of
McMinnville, was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the
Rotary Club of McMinnville, of which he was a past president. He
was also a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation. A member
of the First Baptist Church of McMinnville, he served for many years
as a deacon and was engaged in other activities of the church.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Mary Sumner Spivey of
McMinnville; three children, Dr. Elizabeth Spivey of Yankton,
SD, Sandra Kilgore of Greenback, TN and Ray Spivey, Jr. of
McMinnville; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in in death by his parents, Herman Roscoe and Minnie
Barnes Spivey and sister, Rozelle Spivey Wilson. Funeral service
was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012 at
First Baptist Church with Rev. John May officiating. Burial
followed in the Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors
administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Rotary Foundation
or Magness Library all c/o High's.

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Jeffery Kent Ware, age
52, was born March 4, 1960 and died April 25, 2012 at River Park
Hospital following a brief illness. A farmer and nurseryman and
member of Hebron Church of Christ, he was the son of Mary Ellen
Cunningham Ware of McMinnville and the late I.W. Ware, Jr. In
addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother,
Stevie Lynn Ware. In addition to his mother, he is survived by
two daughters, Jasmine Ware of McMinnville and India (Joey) Laxson of
McMinnville; son, Skyler Ware of McMinnville and granddaughter,
Zara Starr Laxson. Funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 28, 2012 in High's Chapel with Chris Perry
officiating. Burial followed in the Hebron Cemetery.

- Campaign, TN resident and Warren County native Edna Emogene White
Williams, age 84, was born June 15, 1927 and died April 26, 2012 at
River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired
employee of the United States Postal Service and member of the
Campaign Church of God of Prophecy, she was the daughter of the late
Ervin and Willie Ann Hale White. She was married to Fred
Williams who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband
and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Free.
She is survived by two children, Vivian Shelton of St. Louis, MO and
Carl Chesney of Portland, OR; four grandchildren; four
sisters, Geneva Ferrell and Virginia Bell both of McMinnville and
Magdalene Grizzle and Johnnie Belle Bouldin both of Campaign, TN and
several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00
p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 in High's Chapel with Rick Lyles
officiating. Burial followed in the Campaign Cemetery.
