McMinnville resident and Dekalb County, TN native Dale Atnip, age 89, was born March 4, 1917 and died October 31, 2006 at his residence following an extended illness. The retired owner of Atnip Motors and member of Westside Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Burley Lee and Novella Curtiss Atnip. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Gail King and two brothers and three sisters. He was married to Karen Hennessee Atnip of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Betty Jo Atnip of Smithville, TN and John and Betty Jean Atnip of Christiana, TN; three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Ronnie Tramel of Smithville, TN, Linda Dale and Toby Lewis of McMinnville and Tonjia and Jerry Potts of Santa Fe, TN; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alene Ladd of Pineville, LA, Ruth Johnson of LA, and Dean Kite of Knoxville, TN; brother, Jim Solon Atnip of Georgetown, LA; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Kristy Self and Bonnie K. and special adopted granddaughter, Madalyn Stubblefield. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2006 in High's Chapel with Tyree Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Faulkner Cemetery at Pike Hill.
