McMinnville resident and Clay County, TN native Willie "Bill" Hugh Bowman, age 86, was born August 7, 1919 and died April 29, 2006 at River Park Hospital following a brief illness. A retired factory worker at the Reese Candy Company, an accomplished musician, and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Benton and Florida Rich Bowman and served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was married to Stella McBride Bowman who preceded him in death. He is survived by two special friends, Judy Stotts and Joseph Stotts both of McMinnville; three daughters, Kay Engram of Nashville, TN, and Wanda and Patsy Bowman; two sons, Stanley and Everett Bowman; two step-daughters, Carolyn McBride and Cathy Freeman both of McMinnville; two step-sons, Wayne McBride and Dannie McBride; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2006 in High's Chapel with Leslie Moore officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
