Edward BOYD

Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Edward "Shorty" Boyd, age 81, was born February 15, 1925 and died August 24, 2006 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.  A retired plant supervisor with Avalon Dairies, a United States Army veteran of WWII and a member of the White Hill Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Team and Pearl Thomison Boyd.  He was married to Lucille Johnson Boyd who preceded him in death July 4, 1993.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Joe Holder and sister, Ruby Martin.  He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Shirley Boyd of the Rocky River Community, Barry and Diana Boyd and Terry and Kimberly Boyd both of McMinnville;  daughter, Connie Holder of McMinnville;  six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one step-grandchild.  Funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006 in High's Chapel with Bobby Wheeler officiating.  Burial followed in the White Hill Cemetery in the Rocky River Community with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
