McMinnville resident and Davidson County, TN native Marvin Campen, age 87, was born May 19, 1918 and died February 20, 2006 at River Park Hospital following a four month illness. A retired chemical engineer with Chevron, Exxon, and Mobil and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, he was the son of the late Marvin Thomas and Beulah Vesta Womack Campen. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Jean Campen and aunt, Mrs. Daisy Womack. Mr. Campen served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He attended Cumberland College, was a graduate of Georgia Tech University with a degree in chemical engineering and received his masters degree from M.I.T. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, McMinnville Historical Society, McMinnville Noon Rotary as a Paul Harris Fellow, and the Warren County Election Commission. He served as a board member of the Magness Memorial Library, and was named Mr. Warren County by the readers of the Southern Standard in 2004. He was married to Cynthia Brady Campen of McMinnville April 2, 1988. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Rebecca Campen and Daisy Elizabeth Campen both of McMinnville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Al and Ann Brady of McMinnville; special nephews and their spouses, Bill and Elizabeth Clark and Grant and Rosemary Clark both of Hanford, California and special friends, Alphonso Tyson and Ken Lawrence. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Andy Gay and Paul Roberts officiating. Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery.
