McMinnville resident and West Point, Mississippi native James Cook, Jr., age 85, was born June 6, 1921 and died June 23, 2006 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. An aircraft builder at AVCO for thirty years, a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII and a member of the Smartt Church of Christ, he was the son of the late James and Rebecca Cook, Sr. He was married September 15, 1973 to Dorothy Hardcastle Cook of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and George Wallace of Springfield, TN; son, Larry Cook of Springfield, TN; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Ellen Denice and Jonathan Morgan of Murfreesboro, TN; grandsons, Michael and Larry Allen Cook both of Springfield, TN; great-granddaughters, Janna and Hollie Morgan both of Murfreesboro, TN; brother, Virgil Cook of Lebanon, TN; three sisters-in-law, Elsie Harris of Morrison, TN, Melba Davis of Nashville, TN and Roy Mai Warren of McMinnville and two brothers-in-law, Floyd and Brown Hardcastle both of McMinnville. A graveside service and interment was held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Mt. View Cemetery with Vernon Joines officiating.
