Paris, TN resident and Columbus, GA native David Nathaniel Cowan, Jr., age 54, was born March 31, 1952 and died September 2, 2006 at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN following an extended illness. He was a self-employed cab driver, a member of The United Deist, a veteran of the United States Army during Vietnam, a master gardener, a member of the Order of the Arrow with the Boy Scouts of America, and den master of Troop 204 in Flowery Branch, GA. He was the son of the late David Nathaniel Cowan, Sr. and the late Velma Christine Blankenship Cowan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Cowan in 1978; brother, Richard Cowan and grandson, Jerald Wayne Cowan. He is survived by his companion, Mabel Jordan of Paris, TN; two children, David Wayne Cowan of McMinnville and Veronica Crystal Hastings of Morrison, TN; two step-children, Kevin Edward Jordan and Jennifer Lynn Jordan both of Kentucky; brother, Gregory Chris Cowan of Huntsville, AL; two sisters, Lindy Patrice Childers of Burford, GA and Tracy Lee Massa of McMinnville and six grandchildren. Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2006 in High's Chapel with family and friends officiating. Burial followed in the New Union Cemetery in DeKalb County, TN.
