McMinnville resident and Warren County native Waymon Eugene Curtiss, age 94, was born May 18, 1912 and died October 28, 2006 at Generations of Spencer following and extended illness. A retired, self-employed construction worker and farmer and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Escal A. and Vickie Bales Curtiss. He was married to Bonita Cain Curtiss who preceded him in death August 2, 2000. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Otelia Kiteley and brother, Lowell Curtis. He is survived by one son, Waymon Hugh Curtiss of McMinnville; two daughters and son-in-law, Nancy and Samuel Hitchcock of Rock Island, TN and Molly Dearing Schoenauer of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren, Gregory and John Tillman Hitchcock, Dustin Curtiss, and Thomas and Virginia Schoenauer; great-granddaughter, Allison Lorene Hitchcock; sisters, Edith Milstead Northcutt of Altamont, TN and Clemma Grace Smith of McMinnville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Gloria Dacosta of Winter Park, FL and sister-in-law, Melba Fraley of Panama City Beach, FL. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2006 in High's Chapel with Chris Perry officiating. Burial followed in the Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County, TN. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jimmie Woodlee and Generations of Spencer staff for the special care given to their father.
