McMinnville resident and Warren County native Willie Frances Elrod Davenport, age 94, was born December 10, 1911 and died December 8, 2006 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following a lingering illness. A homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ for eighty-three years, she was the daughter of the late Charley and Bertha Watson Elrod. She was married to James Monroe Davenport, Sr. who preceded her in death August 3, 1982. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Johnny Elrod and sister Virgie Smith. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James "Sonny" and Velma Davenport of McMinnville; four daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Walter Bishop of McMinnville, Joann and Earl Dove of Rock Island, TN, Lucille and Dow Hayes of McMinnville and Elsie Faye and Joe Bryan Glenn of Huntsville, AL; twelve grandchildren, James Davenport of Columbia, TN, Cindy Redmon, Vicki Mellon, Donna Hayes, Charles Glenn and Edward Hayes all of McMinnville, April Wells of Knoxville, TN, Walter Bishop, III of Manchester, TN, Dawn Haile of Pensacola, FL, Timothy Glenn of Bethesda, OH, Judith Miller of Mobile, AL and Ricky Hayes of Detroit, MI; brother, Sam Elrod of McMinnville; two sisters, Bonnie Jarrell of Scottsville, AL and Pearl St. John of McMinnville; twenty-four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Agnes Rigsby of Morrison, TN. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2006 in High's Chapel with Gary Colley and Garland Robinson officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
