Elmer Leonard DEATON

Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Elmer Leonard Deaton, age 72, was born March 19, 1933 and died March 18, 2006 at the Tennessee State Veteran's Home in Murfreesboro, TN following an extended illness.  A retired employee of Dezurik and a veteran of the United Sates Navy having served his country during the Korean War, he was the son of the late Elvin Claude and Nora McBride Deaton.  He was married to Eileen Mae Gripp Deaton who preceded him in death in December of 1999.  He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Cathy Deaton of Rock Island, TN;  daughter, Darla Deaton of Rock Island;  four grandchildren, Danny Deaton, Jr. and Brittany Deaton both of McMinnville and Justin and Leslie Cantrell both of Rock Island;  brother, Doug Deaton of McMinnville;  two sisters, Sue Palombo of McMinnville and Mrs. Mason Grissom of Rock Island;  several nieces and nephews also survive.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006 in High's Chapel with Steve Breedlove officiating.  Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
