Doyle, TN resident and Laurel Creek Community (Van Buren County) native Mattie Enzie Bryant Dodson, age 98, was born April 11, 1908 and died December 23, 2006 at her residence. A homemaker, farmer and beloved mother and grandmother, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Tizzie Johnson Bryant. In her youth, she was a 4-H member. For many years, she was an active member of the Sparkman Community Home Demonstration Club and also belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was married December 19, 1926 to William Mitchell Dodson who preceded her in death in 1952. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, James and Frank Dodson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild and all of her siblings, Amanda Grissom, Zora Wilcher, Ora Hill Ramsey, Walker Bryant, Willard Bryant, Ila Bryant, Lorene Williamson and Anna Sparkman. She is survived by eight children and their spouses, Bill and Anna Pearl McNeal Sweeney of Doyle, TN, Bob and Genella Markum of Nashville, TN, Daniel Lee and Edith Dodson of Bone Cave, TN, Golden and Louise Binkley and Collier and Shirley Walker both of Doyle, TN, Roy and Glenda Adams of Readyville, TN, David and Sue Bailey of Sparta, TN and Sam and June Seamons of Bone Cave, TN; two daughters-in-law, Geneva Dodson and Ruth Dodson and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 25, 2006 in High's Chapel with Roy Terry officiating. Burial followed in the Beech Cove Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.
