Johnnie ELROD

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Johnnie Elrod, age 89, was born May 28, 1916 and died January 22, 2006 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.  The retired owner and operator of the Beersheba Street Dairy Queen and a member of the Central Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Charlie and Bertha Watson Elrod.  He was married to Martha Irene Redmon Elrod April 8, 1939 who preceded him in death April 8, 2002.  He is survived by one daughter, Marsha Christine Potter of McMinnville;  three grandchildren, Cory Jessie of Murfreesboro, TN, Sarah Potter of Providence, Rhode Island, and John Potter of McMinnville;  brother, Sam Elrod of McMinnville;  three sisters, Willie Davenport and Pearl St. John both of McMinnville and Bonnie Jarrell of Scottsboro, AL.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2006 in High's Chapel with Tim Parrish officiating.  Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors administered by the Warren County Honor Guard.
