George GEER

Spencer, TN resident and White County, TN native George Lee Geer, age 83, was born January 21, 1923 and died April 21, 2006 at the V.A. Hospital in Nashville, TN following an extended illness.  A retired pipe fitter and a member of the First Community Church of Sparta, he was the son of the late George Elridge and Amanda Randolph Geer.  He served his country in the United States Army during WWII.  He was married January 26, 1946 to Emma Mary Shannon Geer of Spencer, TN.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Larry Bates of Monterey, TN, Brenda and R.L. Youngs of Spencer, TN, and Anita and Keith Oakes of Pikeville, TN;  two sons and daughters-in-law, George E. and Judy Geer of Morrison, TN and Robert and Marie Geer of McMinnville;  twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2006 in High's Chapel.  Burial followed in the Spencer Town Cemetery with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
