Sally Lourine GRISSOM

Rocky River Community resident and Van Buren County, TN native Sally Lourine Grissom, age 89, was born February 4, 1917 and died June 15, 2006 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following a brief illness.  A homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Revedy and Josie Adean Hillis.  She was married to Ivon Doyle Grissom who preceded her in death in 1957.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three children, Zora Lee Hillis, Sonny Doyle Grissom and Freddy Grissom and two brothers, Denny R. and Collie Hillis.  She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Austin and Peggy Grissom of Rock Island, TN;  daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Joe Powers of McMinnville;  thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  Funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2006 in High's Chapel with Titus Ward officiating.  Burial followed in the B.O. Hillis Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.
