Mary Gladys Sparkman Deaton HASTON

Doyle, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Mary Gladys Sparkman Deaton Haston, age 89, was born May 12, 1917 and died December 26, 2006 at NHC Healthcare Sparta, TN.  A retired school teacher with the Van Buren County School System, a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Doyle Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Alice Womack Sparkman.  She was married first to William Herbert Deaton who preceded her in death in 1978 and second to John T. Haston who preceded her in death in 1992.  In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Frank Deaton and brother, Hascal Sparkman.  She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patsy Rose Deaton Mullins and Jessie of McMinnville;  six grandchildren and their spouses, Penny and Allen King, Tena and Anthony Sloan, Jessie and Melissa Mullins, Chad Mullins, Jessica and J.J. Deaton and Layne Mullins;  six great-grandchildren and three step-children and their spouses, Charlotte and Bill Heron of Crossville, TN, Grady and Linda Haston of Jacksonville, FL and Ralph Haston of Chattanooga, TN.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2006 in High's Chapel with Bobby Wilhite and Bobby Moore officiating.  Burial followed in the McElroy Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.
