E.C. HILLIS

September 10, 1933 — August 16, 2006

McMinnville resident and Warren County native E.C. Hillis, age 72, was born September 10, 1933 and died August 16, 2006 following an extended illness.  The owner and operator of E.C. Hillis Trucking and a member of the Grace Chapel Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Bernie Wayne and Jessie Emma Carroll Hillis.  He served in the Tennessee Army National Guard, helped to establish the Beersheba Springs Rescue Squad and Fire Department and served on the Grundy County Commission.  He was married December 3, 1965 to Linda Faye Johnson Hillis of McMinnville.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kathy Hillis of Hillsboro, TN and Dr. Randy Hillis of Nashville, TN and three brothers, Fred Hillis of Pigeon Forge, TN and Stan and David Hillis both of McMinnville.  Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006 in High's Chapel with Clayton Jones and Don Hill officiating.  Burial followed in the Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County, TN.
