McMinnville resident and Grundy County, TN native Kathleen Smith Nunley, age 78, was born April 8, 1928 and died July 30, 2006 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester, TN following a brief illness. A homemaker and a member of the West Riverside Church of God of Prophecy, she was the daughter of the late Ruben Jackson and Lillie Ethel Fults Smith. She was married to Homer Wallace Nunley who preceded her in death July 24, 1994. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Everett Smith and Paul Edward Smith. She is survived by seven children and their spouses, Frances Marie Horn of McMinnville, James Wallace and Wanda Nunley of Spring City, TN, Ronald Wayne and Diane Nunley of Florence, AL, Rita Nunley Wimley of McMinnville, Ricky Glynn Nunley of McMinnville, Nickey Lynn and Lavern Nunley of Rock Island, TN and Lou Ann and Earl Lewis of Lafollette, TN; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren; six sisters, Ernestine Perry, Faye Sanders, Nellie Ann McCormick, Nina Nunley and Glenda Brewer all of McMinnville and Paulette Rawlings of Gruetli-Lager, TN; three brothers, Ruben W. "Bud" Smith of Campaign, TN, William Howell "Billy" Smith of Summitville, TN and Richard Nelson Smith of Ashland City, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006 in High's Chapel with Bishop Timothy Scotton and Rev. Billy Nunley officiating. Burial followed in the Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County, TN.
