SR., Gary Lynn ROBERTS

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Gary Lynn Roberts, Sr., age 57, was born August 17, 1948 and died January 31, 2006 at Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN following a lingering illness.  A truck driver with the Warren County Highway Department and Sullens Trucking Company, a veteran of the Unites States Army during the Vietnam War, and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Herbert and Gracie Oneal Roberts.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Roberts.  He was married to Jackie Dianne Barnes of McMinnville March 25, 1967.    In addition to his wife he is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Stephen Hughes of McMinnville;  son Gary Roberts, Jr. of McMinnville;  grandson, Zachary Gillentine of McMinnville;  four sisters and brothers-in-law, Myra and Leslie Lytle, Carolyn and Bobby Frazier, Wanda and Kenneth Keaton, and Beverly and Edward Keith all of McMinnville;  two brothers and sisters-in-law, Sonny and Queita Roberts and Kenny and Pat Roberts both of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2006 in High's Chapel with Billy Holland officiating.  Burial followed in the Smyrna Cemetery with military graveside rites administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
