SR., Robert Stanley SLATTON

Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County native Robert Stanley Slatton, Sr., age 63, was born August 4, 1942 and died May 5, 2006 at Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN following an extended illness.  A tester at A.O. Smith, a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of the First Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith, he was the son of the late William and Dorothy Vaughn Slatton.  He was married to Etta Joyce Farley Slatton of Rock Island, TN who survives.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children and their spouses, Robin Sloan of Clearwater, FL, Connie and Robert Ditmore of McMinnville,  Margaret and David Smith of Georgia, and Robert Stanley and Jamie Slatton, Jr. of McMinnville;  step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Sandra and John Gilbert of Sparta, TN;  fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren;  two brothers, Orval "Butch" Slatton of McMinnville and Al Shull of Michigan and four sisters, Andrea and Jane Shull of Michigan, Jean Flores of California, and Betty Arms of Murfreesboro, TN.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2006 at the First Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith with Billy Nunley officiating.  Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery with full military honors administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
