Fred SPARKMAN

McMinnville resident and Van Buren County, TN native Fred Sparkman, age 83, was born April 16, 1923 and died November 1, 2006 at River Park Hospital.  A retired employee of Bower Roller Bearing, a United States Army veteran of WWII, a fifty-year mason and a member of the Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Tom and Ida Lou Black Sparkman.  He was married November 17, 1948 to Nellie Kate Hodge Sparkman of McMinnville.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by one nephew and spouse, Richard and Peggy Carter of the Dibrell Community;  brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Orville and Martha Hodge of Sparta, TN;  sister-in-law, Louvinnie Walker of Camden, TN and several other nieces and nephews.  Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006 in High's Chapel with Dr. Steve Angus officiating.  Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery in White County, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
