McMinnville resident and Warren County native Edith Virginia Womack Taylor, age 84, was born November 4, 1921 and died January 7, 2006 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired, self-employed restaurant owner and a member of the Providence Baptist Church, she was first married to the late John Calvin Womack and married second to the late E.J. Taylor. She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Winnie Adeline Jones Ward. In addition to her husbands and parents she was also preceded in death by daughters, Betty Frances and Shirley Jean Womack; brothers, Virgil, Margle, and Clinton Ward; sister, Mary Liddy Foster, and grandson Jimmy Walker, Jr. She is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Richard Walker of Beech Grove, TN, Marie and Dexter Mabe of Manchester, TN, Ruth and Wayne Walker, Linda and Bobby Whitlock, and Helen and Garry Gillentine all of McMinnville, and Mary Lou and Donald Woodlee of Spencer, TN; three sons and daughters-in-law, John Thomas and Sharon Womack of McMinnville, James Calvin and Marcia Gail Womack of Kentucky, and Joe David and Louise Womack of Rock Island, TN; twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren also survive; three sisters, Pauline Stroud and Helen Basham both of McMinnville and Norma Jean Davenport of Woodbury, TN; two brothers, Leon Ward of Murfreesboro, TN and W.L. Ward of Gallatin, TN. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2006 at the Providence Baptist Church with Jim Tollison, Tommy Womack, James Womack, Joe David Womack, and Ricky Arnold officiating. Burial followed in the Providence Cemetery.
