George William TAYLOR

Rock Island, TN resident and White County, TN native George William Taylor, age 86, was born December 23, 1919 and died August 5, 2006 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness.  A retired construction worker with International Union Operating Engineers and a veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII, he was the son of the late Bill and Maude Shannon Taylor.  He was married to Lena Whitworth Taylor who preceded him in death.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Harold, Wilburn, and Gene Taylor and two sisters, Jennie Duke and Jessie Taylor.  He is survived by three children, George A. Taylor of McMinnville, Diane Smith of Pennsylvania, and Keith Miller of Kentucky;  three grandchildren, Tera Nicholas of McMinnville and Lisa Miller and Keith Miller both of Kentucky;  four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2006 in High's Chapel with Rick Basham officiating.  Burial followed at Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville, KY with military honors administered by the 1st Armored Training Brigade at Ft. Knox, KY.
