McMinnville resident and White County, TN native Robert R. Thatch, age 80, was born August 11, 1925 and died May 2, 2006 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. A retired insurance salesman with Western and Southern Life Insurance Company in Anderson, IN, the retired owner of Bob and Sue's Market, and a member of Way Of The Cross Baptist Church, he served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was the son of the late Robert A. Thatch and Effie Rigsby Rowland. He was married to Clercy "Sue" Myers Thatch who preceded him in death April 23, 2006. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Lillard and Ricky Thatch; half-brother, Robert A. Thatch and half-sister, June Kuyawski. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie and Joann Thatch of Rock Island, TN; Michael and Judy Thatch of McMinnville and Bobby Thatch of Muncie, Indiana; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Douglas Brown of McMinnville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; half-brother, Russell Thatch of Illinois and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2006 in High's Chapel with Ray Skyles officiating. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
