McMinnville resident and Christian County, KY native Clyde C. Winters, age 100, was born June 1, 1906 and died September 19, 2006 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. He was the son of the late James LaFayette and Rosa Caroline Johnson Winters and was married August 1, 1930 to Elizabeth Webb Winters who preceded him in death September 8, 2002. He attended Bell High School in Adams, TN, Draughn's Business College in Nashville, TN and was a 1928 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a degree in electrical engineering where he was a member of the Beta Alpha Omega Fraternity. He came to McMinnville as the manager of the Tennessee Electric Power Company in 1938, which became the McMinnville Electric System in 1939. He served as the General Superintendent until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a deacon at the Central Church of Christ before becoming one of the founding trustees of the Westwood Church of Christ where he served as an elder for thirty years. He was a member and past president of the Rotary Club where he received the honor of becoming a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member and past president of the Exchange Club, a Red Cross volunteer, a member of the Warren County Chamber of Commerce, a mason, and became the first local employer to be cited by the McMinnville Jaycee's as "Outstanding Boss of the Year." In addition to his wife of 72 years and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Clyde C. Winters, Jr.; son-in-law, M.L. "Sam" Scott; two brothers and one sister. He is survived by one daughter, Carol Rose Winters Scott of McMinnville; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Elizabeth Scott and John Randall Damron of Pittsburgh, PA; two great-granddaughters and great-grandson-in-law, Laura Elizabeth Damron and Aleksandr Zasedatelev of McMinnville and Emily Rose Damron of Pittsburgh, PA and brother, James L. Winters, Jr. of Kingston, TN. A graveside service and interment was held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Mt. View Cemetery with James Vandiver and Harold Jones officiating.
