Orion Rooster AKERS

Centertown native and life-long Warren County resident Orion "Rooster" Akers passed from this life December 22, 2007. Mr. Akers was born April 13, 1923 to the late W.S. and Bertha Akers. A farmer and a trader, he was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Florine "Mo" Akers in May of 2000. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Euna Akers and Elwanda Martin. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Glenda Akers of Murfreesboro, TN and Joel and DeRosa Akers of Centertown; two granddaughters, Jessica Akers of Centertown and Lesley Akers of McMinnville; step-granddaughter, Danielle Mancuso of Murfreesboro, TN. Also surviving are siblings, Irma Locke of McMinnville, W.S. Akers, Jr. of Centertown, Genay Thompson of Irving, TX, Peggy Akers of Murfreesboro, TN and Eulene Ferrell of Nashville, TN. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 24, 2007 in High's Chapel with Charles Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Centertown Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Monday at High's. Memorial contributions may be made to the Centertown Elementary School Library.
