Oliver Everett BESS

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Oliver Everett Bess, age 84, was born February 12, 1923 and died June 10, 2007 at Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center following a brief illness. A retired employee of Century Electric, former manager of VFW Post 5064, a United States Army Veteran of WWII where he was a P.O.W. and a member of the Pleasant Cove Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Oliver and Beady Madewell Bess. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Livy Bess and several brothers and sisters. He was married October 17, 1949 to Jackie Leona Campbell Bess of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Belva Bess of Sparta, TN; three grandchildren, Tabitha Patrick, Jamie Brock and Jacob Bess all of McMinnville; five great-grandchildren, Kelsey Jones, Samantha Brock, Lucas Patrick, Kendall Patrick and Dalton Bess; sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Ray Parker of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service and interment was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
