Alfred Odell BOYD

Clarksville, TN resident and Putnam County, TN native Alfred Odell Boyd, age 83, was born February 16, 1924 and died June 8, 2007 at Gateway Health Center in Clarksville, TN following an extended illness. He was a former resident of Warren County for twenty-five years, a retired employee of Uniroyal Tire and a United States Army Veteran of WWII where he served in the European Theatre and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was the son of the late William and Ruby Fields Boyd and was married to Geneva Sullins Boyd who also preceded him in death. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Denton Boyd and sister, Betty Ruth Christian. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger O. and Charlotte Boyd of Brenham, TX; two daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Louise Hoover of St. Claire Shores, MI and Annette and Randy Emerson of Clarksville, TN; six grandchildren, Sheryl VanBuren, Scott Boyd, Jason Hoover, Steven Boyd, Ryan Emerson and Jessica Emerson; four great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Logan, Madyson and Brennen VanBuren; two brothers, Jay and George Boyd and two sisters, Hazel Chaffins and Brenda Harris. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 in High's Chapel. Entombment followed at DeKalb Memorial Gardens in Smithville, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
