Morrison, TN resident and DeKalb County, TN native Hallie Jane Cantrell, age 102, was born March 18, 1905 and died November 30, 2007 at her residence following an extended illness. A homemaker, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Canzaday Blankenship Mitchell. Mrs. Cantrell was a long-time member of the Church of Christ at Bybee Branch and was known to many in the community as the proprietress of the Corner Market Grocery which was at the corner of N. Chancery and Caldwell Streets. She was married February 12, 1922 to Leonard Alton Cantrell who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Austia Ray; brother, George J. Mitchell; infant daughter, Jossie Magdalene Cantrell; son, Lyle Curtis Cantrell and grandson, Bryan Mitchell Cantrell. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Lois Cantrell and Kelly Cantrell both of Roanoke, VA and Paul and Idella Cantrell of Las Cruses, NM; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Harold Cook of Viola, TN; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Roeba Jones of McMinnville; daughter-in-law, Gladys Cantrell of Nashville, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2007 in High's Chapel with Tony Lawrence officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
