John S. CARTER

McMinnville, TN resident and Charleston, SC native John S. Carter, age 54, was born October 23, 1953 and died October 30, 2007 at Cookeville Regional Hospital in Cookeville, TN following a brief illness. A quality engineer at M-Tek in Manchester, TN, he was the son of Ruth Crosby of Charleston, SC and the late Harry Carter. He was married to Sherry Barks Carter of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three step-children and their spouses, Ricky and Sherry Carr of the Smartt Station Community, Jennifer and Steve Wright of Manchester, TN and Anthony and Danielle Carr of Smithville, TN; three step-granddaughters; five brothers, Butch Carter of Maine and Jimmy Carter, Richard Carter, David Carter and Kenny Carter all of South Carolina; sister, Donna Chaplin of South Carolina and step-sister, Jean Goodman of Houston, TN. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2007 in High's Chapel with David Bratcher officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
