McMinnville resident and Coffee County, TN native Alma Ruth Wiser Davenport, age 85, was born July 19, 1921 and died January 24, 2007 at River Park Hospital following a two week illness. A retired sales clerk and homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Thomas Hamilton and Frances G. Blanton Wiser. She was married June 10, 1939 to Delter Ray Davenport who preceded her in death August 21, 1975. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Kathryn Cheryl Priest of McMinnville and Norma Ray and Clarence D. Patton, Jr. of Huntsville, AL; son and daughter-in-law, Paul Ronald and Jacqueline Davenport of Spanish Fort, AL; grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa Dee Patton and Rev. Ryan Tyler of Florence, AL, Micheal Ray and Stephanie Vinson Patton of Dunlap, TN, Charles Thomas and Lenore Pinder Priest of Louisville, KY, OC Angela Ray Davenport, US Navy and husband Israel Tellez of Auburn, AL and Teri Davenport Welden and Dr. James Maxwell Welden, III of Birmingham, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Remmington Drake Tyler, Kathryn "Katy" Delphine Priest and Daven Kennedy Tyler; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Hilda and Edwin Copeland of Annapolis, MD, and Mildred Davenport Martin, Mamie Wiser and Thelma Davenport Hasler all of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2007 at First Baptist Church with Bill Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
