Samuel David ELROD

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Samuel David Elrod, age 92, was born February 12, 1914 and died February 2, 2007 at his residence following a lingering illness. A retired employee of Genesco, a United States Army veteran of WWII and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Charley and Bertha Watson Elrod. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Johnny Elrod and two sisters, Virgie Smith and Willie Davenport. He was married December 10, 1955 to Ellen Holt Elrod of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathy Elrod of McMinnville; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Robert Causey of Cragford, AL; five grandchildren, Katelyn Elrod of McMinnville, Ashley Elrod of Virginia, Karen Williams of Anniston, AL, James Causey of Cragford, AL and Sarah Causey of Jacksonville, AL; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Belle Williams and two sisters, Bonnie Jarrell of Scottsboro, AL and Pearl St. John of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2007 in High's Chapel with Garland Robinson officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory.
