Charles Elmer FERGUSON

McMinnville resident and Bledsoe County, TN native Charles Elmer Ferguson, age 64, was born June 6, 1943 and died October 4, 2007 at his residence following a two and a half year illness. A foreman at Rockford Textile Mills a United States Army veteran of Vietnam and a member of the New Union Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Lee and Estelle Holland Ferguson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny Lee, Wilburn and Robert Joe Ferguson and two sisters, Nellie Jane Smith and Josie Ann Bayless. He was married October 23, 2000 to Phyllis Ann Cates Ferguson of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathy Ferguson of Spencer, TN; step-daughter, Mary Lee Myrick of McMinnville; two step-sons and step-daughter-in-law, Tony Cates and Bill and Carrie St. John of McMinnville. nephew, Bryan Cates of McMinnville; mother-in-law, Billie Cates of McMinnville; sister and brother-in-law, Clara and Leonard Oaks of Dunlap, TN; niece and her husband, Marty and Jeff Daniel of McMinnville; six grandchildren, Jeffrey and Tiffany Ferguson, Drake Cates, and Hannah, Hailey, and Jayden St. John and brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Joel and Lois Cates of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2007 in High's Chapel with Tim Lewis officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
