McMinnville resident and Warren County native Joe Ed Hillis, age 65, was born March 27, 1942 and died June 16, 2007 at River Park Hospital following a brief illness. A setup operator at Oster for thirty-eight years and a member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Martin and Elmer Savage Hillis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Hillis and sister, Jearline Hillis. He was married December 31, 1974 to Naomi Lucille Blankenship of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Paula and Gordan Boring of Crossville, TN and Pam Hankins and fiancé Dewayne Evans of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Connie France of Crossville, TN; grandchildren, Amanda and Anna Boring, Tiffany and Jason Warner, Steven, Shea, and John David Hankins, Alisha, Dustin and Casey France and Jeremy Evans; two great-grandchildren, Aden and Austin Warner; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Carl Adcock, Pearline and Charles Baker and Joyce and Bobby Bond all of McMinnville and brother, Don Hillis of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007 in High's Chapel with Leslie Hickey officiating. Burial followed in the Blankenship Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.
