Eugene Clifford Jones

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Eugene Clifford Jones, age 91, was born May 26, 1915 and died April 27, 2007 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired auto mechanic and retired Chief Gunnersmate in the United States Navy during WWII and Korea, he was a member of the Bybee Branch Church of Christ. He was the son of the late Timothy and Hesentine Kerby Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Allan Jones; granddaughter, Wendy Jones; three brothers, Colonel, Aubrey, and Leburn Jones and sister, Wyona Neal. He was married June 23, 1941 to Georgia Ann Maxwell of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Judy Jones of Hermitage, TN, Donald and Mary Jones of Stuart, FL and Timothy and Denise Jones of McMinnville; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Jones was a dedicated husband, father and avid outdoorsman. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2007 in High's Chapel with Tony Lawrence officiating. Burial followed in the Bethany Cemetery with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
