McMinnville resident and Grundy County, TN native Jim Houston Killian, age 86, was born June 1, 1921 and died September 5, 2007 at River Park Hospital following a brief illness. A retired employee of Caterpillar where he was an iron pourer, a United States Army veteran of WWII and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Mack and Earlene Cathcart Killian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Freeman Killian and two brothers-in-law, Junior Anderson and Frank Herrin. He was married June 14, 1947 to Lyda Christian Killian of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Cindy Killian of McMinnville; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Ralph Barnes of McMinnville; four grandchildren and their spouses, John Barnes, Stephanie and Troy Hobbs, Amber and Brian Rippy and Colby Killian; four great-grandchildren, Hunter and Alex Hobbs, Rylee Grace Rippy and Autumn Brim; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Clifton Patrick, Maxine Anderson and Frances and Earl Campbell all of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Athelia Herrin of McMinnville; brother-in-law, George Bradley Christian of McMinnville; numerous nieces and nephews and cousin and friend, William H. Cathcart. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2007 in High's Chapel with Paul Prince, John Barnes and Ralph Barnes officiating. Interment followed in the Center Hill Cemetery @ Hills Creek with full military honors administered by the V.F.W. Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
