Mary Ellen Harrell KNAUER

McMinnville resident and Scottsville, KY native Mary Ellen Harrell Knauer, age 85, was born January 7, 1922 and died October 5, 2007 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A school teacher while in Kentucky, a homemaker and a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Carrie Wade Harrell. She was married February 6, 1943 to George Herman Knauer, Sr. who preceded her in death February 20, 1998. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Georgia Ann Knauer; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Belle Pitman Knauer; sister, Dorothy Bell Harrell Williams and brother, J.B. Harrell. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Dottie and Danny Hillis of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law, George and Peggy Knauer, Jr. of Morrison, TN; two grandsons and their spouses, George H. and Karen Knauer, III of Maryville, TN and Dano and Misti Hillis of McMinnville; two granddaughters and one grandson-in-law, Heather and George Newman of McMinnville and Chasitie Knauer of Livingston, TN; five great-grandchildren, Shelby Newman, Kaylee Hillis, Jacqueline King, J.T. Allen and Autumn Dotson; brother, Powell Harrell of Portland, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2007 in High's Chapel with Mark Carrigan officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with Ray Weddington officiating at the graveside.
