Josie Beatrice MATHIS

Woodbury, TN resident and Warren County native Josie Beatrice Mathis, age 87, was born February 10, 1920 and died April 2, 2007 at Woodbury Nursing Center in Woodbury, TN following an extended illness. A homemaker and a member of the Ivy Bluff Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Walter and Maggie Boles Campbell. She was married November 14, 1939 to William Houston Mathis, Sr. who preceded her in death November 14, 2000. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, William H. Mathis, Jr.; three sisters, Ruby Dyer, Mary Lou Plourd and Roberta Taylor and six brothers, Ed, Hoyte, Claude, Smith, Albert, and Clayton Campbell. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Gail Mathis Hendrix of Murfreesboro, TN and Jo Ann and Howard Ramsey of Jasper, TN; daughter-in-law, Kathy Hitchcock Mathis of Murfreesboro, TN; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Ivy Bluff Church of Christ with Odell Powell and Kenneth Mears officiating. Burial followed in the Ivy Bluff Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ivy Bluff Cemetery Fund.
