Carl Joseph MAYFIELD

McMinnville resident and Marion County, TN native Carl Joseph Mayfield, age 86, was born May 26, 1920 and died January 3, 2007 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN following a brief illness. A retired United States Navy veteran, having served during WWII, he was the son of the late Joe and Carrie Marshal Mayfield. He was married to Dessie Youngblood Mayfield who preceded him in death in 1979. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Edwin and Bill Mayfield. He is survived by two daughters, Carletta and Rodney Wells of Lake City, TN and Barbara Clark and Louie McCoy of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Gayle Mayfield of McMinnville; five grandchildren, Michelle Roehl, David Wells, Kevin Clark, Danielle Sliger and Michael Mayfield; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Johnson of Lexington, TN and Lennie Mayfield of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007 in High's Chapel with Ray Weddington officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
