Ethel Mae Simmons MCCORMICK

Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Ethel Mae Simmons McCormick, age 69, was born May 6, 1937 and died February 4, 2007 at her residence following an extended illness. A homemaker and member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Nettie Lou Mooneyham Simmons. She was married first to John Thurman Curtis who preceded her in death and married second to Edward McCormick who also preceded her in death. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Curtis and brother Claude Simmons. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Cheek of Manchester, TN and Tina McCormick of Rock Island, TN; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Susie Horn and Jessie Horn both of McMinnville and Bessie Hale of Rock Island, TN; brother, Tommy Simmons of White County, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in High's Chapel with George Roberts officiating. Burial followed in the Smyrna Cemetery.
