Edna Lee Young MERRITT

McMinnville resident and Dekalb County, TN native Edna Lee Young Merritt, age 76, was born October 1, 1930 and died May 24, 2007 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Hershel Walter and Bessie Brown Jaco Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Thomas and Sammie Young. She was married July 27, 1967 to Larry Adam Merritt of Woodbury, TN. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Connie Newby of Rock Island, TN; granddaughter, Casey Newby of Rock Island, TN; two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Brylee Newby both of Rock Island, TN; three sisters, Linda Edell Brady and Janie Harding both of McMinnville and Kathy Rutledge of Manchester, TN and brother, Jerry Young of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007 in High's Chapel with James Dukes officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
