McMinnville resident and Warren County native J.D. Mullican, age 84, was born August 21, 1922 and died June 22, 2007 at River Park Hospital following a sudden illness. The retired owner of J.D. Mullican Construction and a United States Army Air Corp veteran of WWII, he was the son of the late William Alexander and Clara Womack Mullican. He was married to Ida Bernita Higginbotham who preceded him in death June 27, 1997. He was a member of the McMinnville First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher and was a former member of the McMinnville Noon Rotary Club as a Paul Harris Fellow.. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Grady and Nolan Mullican and sister, Inez Patton. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Diane Mullican of Lawrenceville, GA and Leland and Gina Mullican of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Alex and Emily Mullican of Lawrenceville, GA and Abby and Brett Mullican of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2007 at First Baptist Church with Mark Karki and Bill Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064. Memorial contributions may be made to or .
