Coalmont, TN resident and Warren County native Edith Milstead Northcutt, age 89, was born September 15, 1917 and died June 18, 2007 at Emerald-Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee, TN following an extended illness. A retired teacher with the Warren County School System where she taught at Fairview, Irving College and Head Start and a member of the Altamont Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Escal A. and Vickie Bales Curtis. She was married first to George Eugene Milstead who preceded her in death October 15, 1979. In addition to her first husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Milstead; two brothers, Lowell and Waymon Curtis and sister, Otelia Kitley. She was married second to Sherwin Hallis "S.H." Northcutt of Altamont, TN. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Karen Milstead of Murfreesboro, TN and Douglas and Barbara Milstead of Conyers, GA; daughter, Phyllis Newcome of McMinnville; two step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, Gaylon and Phyllis Northcutt of Nashville, TN and Dean and Sharon Northcutt of Manchester, TN; grandchildren, Kerri and Gary Milstead of Murfreesboro, TN, Waymon Milstead of McMinnville and Edie Gayle Oliver of Nashville, TN; step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Northcutt, Wendy Lane Owen, Penny Cherie Northcutt and Ashlee Suzanne Piercey; great-grandchildren, Gary Allen and Ethan Milstead, Kylie and Shane Milstead; six step-great-grandchildren; step-sister, Clemma Grace Smith of McMinnville and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Curtis of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 in High's Chapel with Bob Deason and Joe Gray officiating. Burial followed in the Hebron Cemetery.
