Ruby Matheney POWELL

McMinnville resident and Putnam County, TN native Ruby Matheney Powell, age 90, was born June 21, 1917 and died September 28, 2007 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired employee of Genesco and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Rena Evans Matheney. She was married to Lebern Powell who preceded her in death April 18, 1985. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Powell and three brothers, Carl, Bill and Charles Matheney. She is survived by one daughter, Betty Powell Short of McMinnville; six grandchildren and their spouses, Dianne and Roger Lynn of Murfreesboro, TN, Connie and Jerry Campbell of the Irving College Community, Douglas Short of Murfreesboro, TN, Kenny Short of Smithville, TN and Angie and Eric Beaty and Shelly Powell both of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Linda Short, Jimmy McGlothin, Janie Gaitha, Nancy Hollandsworth, Leah and Casey Mullican, Douglas, Crystal and Michael Short, Chelsea Beaty and Sheyenne Blanton; great-great-grandchildren, Andrew, Riley, Alli, Abigail and Haley and sister, Dorothy Holder of McMinnville. A graveside service and interment was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Friendship Cemetery with Ronnie Powell officiaiting.
