Johnnie Eugene Gene ROGERS

McMinnville resident and Painesville, OH native Johnnie Eugene "Gene" Rogers, age 53, was born June 12, 1953 and died February 14, 2007 following an extended illness. A retired machinist with Vought-Aerostructures in Nashville, TN and a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he was the son of the late Estes and Pearlene Goodson Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dickie Rogers. He was married March 21, 1975 to Betty Elaine Pinegar Rogers of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and their spouses, April and Jeff Walker, Jason Rogers, and Jennifer and Jared Hendrixson all of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Derrick, Devin and Kelsea Walker and Cain Hendrixson all of McMinnville; two brothers and sister-in-law, Terry and Tina Rogers of Hickory, NC and Joey Smartt of McMinnville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Chi Chi and Clayton West and Cynthia and Eddie Whitworth both of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2007 in High's Chapel. Interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
