McMinnville resident and Barnerville, NY native Frederick Maynard Stanton, Jr., age 83, was born January 22, 1924 and died October 7, 2007 at River Park Hospital following a one-year illness. A supervisor at Mountain Creek Nursery, a United States Army Air Corp veteran of WWII and a member of the Dibrell Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Frederick Maynard and Mabel Kniskern Stanton, Sr. Mr. Stanton was a staff sergeant, serving in the 464th Bomb Group during WWII in the North African and Italian Theatres of the war. He was married November 15, 1945 to Claudia Hallum Stanton of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Denise Stanton of the Centertown Community; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Garry L. Adcock of McMinnville and Jeanette and Danny George of the Centertown Community; six grandchildren, Christa George Wood of Memphis, TN, Kelli Adcock of Murfreesboro, TN, Stanton Adcock of Nashville, TN and Tracy Adcock, Jamison Stanton and Jordan Stanton all of McMinnville; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Huldah Needs of Boca Raton, FL, Altheia Baaier of Schenectady, NY and Virginia Fernandez of Barnerville, NY; two brothers, Milton Stanton of Barnerville, NY and Carlton Stanton of Kenosha, WI and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007 in High's Chapel with Nestor Stewart officiating. Burial followed in the Dekalb Cemetery in Dekalb County, TN with full military honors administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
