Alva Hembree TATE

McMinnville resident and Grundy County, TN native Alva Hembree Tate, age 101, was born October 10, 1905 and died May 1 ,2007 at his residence following an extended illness. A self-employed nurseryman and a member of the Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Willie Clyde and Bessie Dagma Morton Tate. He was married to Novella Etter Tate who preceded him in death October 30, 2000. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Deborah Renee Tate; three brothers, Richard, Glenn, and Clyde Tate, Jr. and sister, Lottie Fraley. He is survived by three sons, William Burch Tate of McMinnville, Robert Glenn Tate of Murfreesboro and Powell David Tate of Cookeville, TN; daughter, Betty Jean Tate of Nashville, TN; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bessie Dagma Wanamaker of Grundy County, TN and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Tate of Cookeville, TN and Irene Tate of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2007 in High's Chapel with Billy Nunley officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory.
