Mayo, Florida resident (former McMinnville resident) and Alabama native Eugene Thomas "Bill" Walker, age 75, was born October 19, 1931 and died April 7, 2007 at Shands Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL following a brief illness. The owner of Walker Trucking Company and a member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late William and Julia Gholson Walker. He was married to his wife of forty years, Mildred Riggs Walker who preceded him in death April 4, 1994. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Walker and Beatrice Meadows. While in Warren County he operated Bill's Welding Shop on Morrison Highway. He was an active member of the Mayo F & AM Masonic Lodge where he was a Master Mason. He is survived by two sons, Dr. Duane T. Walker of Gatlinburg, TN and Leslie A. Walker of Jacksonville, FL and grandchildren, Rachel, Clint, Chad and Pamela. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007 in High's Chapel with Duane Thomas Walker officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
