William Burford WEST

McMinnville resident and Barr, MS native William Burford West, age 88, was born July 9, 1918 and died June 15, 2007 at River Park Hospital. A retired salesman with Sunshine Biscuits, Inc., a United States Army veteran of WWII and a member of the Westwood Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Bert Thomas and Mary Ella Bamburg West. He was first married to Annie Kathryn Gurley West who preceded him in death June 15, 1980 and married second to Margaret Sain Womack who preceded him in death December 17, 1999. In addition to his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, William Scott West; step-daughter-in-law, Cindy Womack; sister, Inez Merritt Peyton and brothers-in-law, Winford Lee Peyton, Sam Black and Pete Kopf. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Gwyen and Gail West of Amarillo, TX and William Burford and Helen West, Jr. of Anderson, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn Grace and Joe Reynolds of McMinnville; step-son, Joe Womack of McMinnville; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Joye and Jim Smith of Lexington, KY; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Garnett Bert and Freida West of Southaven, MS and three sisters and brother-in-law, Laura Ellen Black of Olive Branch, MS, Mary Estelle Kopf of Coldwater, MS and Anita Faye and Jim Sanders of Southaven, MS. Funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2007 in High's Chapel with Coy Hathcock officiating. A graveside service and interment was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Independence, MS. Memorial contributions may be made to the , and .
