Herbert Lee WRIGHT

Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County native Herbert Lee Wright, age 83, was born December 6, 1923 and died May 9, 2007 at Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN following a short illness. A retired employee of the Carrier Corporation, a United States Navy Veteran of WWII and a member of Friendship The Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Vaughn M. and Hester Jaco Wright. He served twelve years as a Warren County Commissioner, was a member of the Rock Island Masonic Lodge #452, VFW Post 5064 and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was married to Mary Louise Breedlove Wright who preceded him in death May 12, 1997. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Robert De La Garza of San Antonio, TX and Paula Wright and Peggy and Stacey Nunley both of Rock Island, TN; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hillis of Morrison ,TN, Shae Hodges of Rock Island, TN, Jeremiah Hodges of McMinnville and Spencer Hodges of Rock Island, TN; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Nokes of Rock Island, TN, Alex Hillis of McMinnville and Aiden and Emeri Cummings both of Rock Island, TN and three sisters, Ruth George of Rock Island, TN, Mary Yates of Louisville, KY and Betty Sparkman of Doyle, TN. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007 in High's Chapel with Steve Breedlove and Larry Stanley officiating. Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery with full military honors administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
