McMinnville resident and White County, TN native Robert Lee Atnip, age 91, was born May 15, 1916 and died January 16, 2008 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. A self-employed carpenter and a member of the Highland Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Ephriam and Rebecca Norris Atnip. He was married June 4, 1938 to Nannie Amelia Walker Atnip who preceded him in death August 18, 1999. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Bobbie Atnip of the Centertown Community and Johnny and Gail Atnip of McMinnville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jill and Fred Davenport and Jane and Rocky Davenport both of McMinnville; four granddaughters and their spouses, Jackie and Buddy Killian of the Centertown Community, Jenny and Regan Kelsey of McMinnville, Becky and Scott Stubbe of Smithville, TN and Allison Davenport of Seabring, FL; two grandsons, John Atnip of McMinnville and Chad Davenport and his fiancée, Sarah Robbins of McMinnville; six great-grandchildren, Keirsten Killian, Peyton and Walker Kelsey, Chloe Davenport and Katelyn and Anthony Robbins; two sisters, Tennie Womack and Mary Bell Moore both of McMinnville; two step-grandchildren and their spouses, Ramona and Jerry Cooper of Rock Island, TN and Teresa and Jeff Hinkle of McMinnville; three step-great-grandchildren, Christopher Cooper, Renee Willis and Shelly Cope; five step-great-great-grandchildren, Ryan and Katelyn Cooper, Jennifer Adams, Brady Willis and Madison Cope; sister-in-law, Rose Walker of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews and special caretaker Jean Killian of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 in High's Chapel with Ed Wilhite officiating. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Robert L. Atnip Scholarship Fund for Warren County 4-H Club c/o High Funeral Home.
